ACCESS POINTS:
Darwin Ferry Crossing in Illinois

Waterfront Street (south of Franklin Street)
Darwin, Illinois

There are gravel approach ramps on both sides of the river because there is an active cable ferry to transport farm equipment. The approach ramps can be used to launch boats.

From the river, the ramp is on the right bank, directly across from another gravel ramp (on the Indiana side). The cable ferry will be easily visible, probably parked on the Illinois side (right bank) unless in use.

Important: The river is constantly changing. Hazards like log jams and tree falls will come and go often, so always be ready for them. Even islands and riverbends come and go over time. Riffles and sandbars will appear and disappear based on water flow levels. Do not attempt boating on this or any river during high water. Please be safe, respectful and responsible on the river.
